Thank you for the post. When the government itself, charged with the promulgation and enforcement of civil behavior and the laws, condones and promulgates the breaking of laws through promoting, tolerating, and encouraging illegal immigration, then the rule of law breaks down and the only rule of law in the USA is 'every one for themselves!'

It's not even that as much as it is being bought off by big business interests who like the dirt cheap labor and no benefit packages. Hell, there are many times where less than minimum wage is paid. But then I guess it stands to reason that if you are an employer who is willing to break the law by hiring illegals, it is not much of a leap to break other laws regarding wages & compensation, workmans comp etc.

If it was only just pandering for votes, then one of the party's candidates would get smart and realize that there are more non latino votes to pander to by not allowing this crap. Illegals cannot vote. Legal ones can but mostly vote Democratic party anyway. It's not about votes. It's about the politicians personal wealth now and later on after office. Selling out the American people is a personal investment practice many politicians make. Far too many it seems.

The border can be tightened a LOT more than it is. Also, there are many things which could be done to recognize and deal with the problem once they are in the country. Instead of sending them back umpteen times, put them in tent cites and have hard labor for say a year or two. Then send them back. Give them a reason not to risk coming here illegally. Also, crack down hard on those who illegally employ them. If there is little work to find when they come here, they will stop coming, at least not as much.
