I always notice loading/reloading/action working/shooting errors in movies when it comes to firearms. One of the biggest is sparks flying off bullets when they hit brick walls, cars, people, etc. It's just hilariously unrealistic.
In the Terminator 2 movie, I noticed this. Bartender fires warning shot in the air- chambers another round- Arnie takes the gun away. Yet when Arnie meets young John Connor and the T-1000 in the walkway alley, Arnie works the action on the model 1887 again- to chamber a round first. Theoretically, there should already be a round chambered, still in their from when the bartender worked the action.
Arnie then fires a total of 7 shots into the T-1000, before having to reload. The model 1887 only holds 4 shots in the magazine by design, maybe 5 if you put one in the chamber too with a full magazine. Another Hollywood gun error.
The gun has to be a 12 gauge, otherwise, where is Arnie getting all this 10 gauge ammo ?? It's impossible to find in 2-7/8' 10 gauge size....(chuckle). Arnie only took the gun, no ammo- and where is he keeping an unlimited supply of about 25+ rounds of 12 gauge (heavy) ammo in that leather jacket ?? Where did he get it ?? They left that out.
OK, now they are in the chase scene, T-1000 in the tractor towtruck, Arnie on the Harley, John Connor on the dirt bike. Notice, when Arnie is twirling the lever gun to reload it, the lever has an EXTENDED BOW on it all of a sudden, on the lever handle, ala John Wayne Rooster Cogburn type lever rifle. Someone said they also used a lever action rifle with a shotgun barrel in the movie, not just an 1887 shotgun, and it's true- take a close look at the lever bow, it's much bigger than an 1887 lever bow handle is. It's a rifle handle, the oversized one that is easier to 'twirl' to chamber another round. So that was definitely a hybrid rifle/shotgun deal.
Arnie saves the boy, shoots a tire off the tractor, it crashes and burns. He twirls the action and points the gun in case the T-1000 comes out of the flaming wreck- only a burning tire comes out. (BTW, a complete wheel and tire would NEVER come off one of those tractors and roll away- I was a diesel mechanic, those are held on by many large, strong bolts- the rim would stay on)
Shortly thereafter, John Connor tells Arnie to stop the bike, starts questioning Arnie. Arnie works the action again, and the sound of an empty shell hitting the ground is heard. Major error- Arnie chambered a round previously, but did not shoot the gun. In reality, a LOADED LIVE ROUND should have been ejected. Not an empty.
This same type of error was in the Terminator 1 movie- Sarah Connor's protector steals a pump action shotgun from a police car, saws off the stock, chambers a round, puts it under his coat. Then, right before he opens up on the Terminator in the bar shootout scene to save Sarah, he works the pump action AGAIN- that in reality would eject his live chambered round- stupid move as he just wasted one shot and now has reduced firepower.
These Hollywood directors need to hire a firearms expert or at least someone knowledgeable about guns, their actions, and magazine capacities, to make these movies a little more realistic....(chuckle...)
anyway, where can I get a 1887 shotgun, with large rifle lever bow to twirl, that takes modern 12-gauge smokeless powder slug ammo without bursting, and has a 7-shot magazine ??
(laughter...) thanks for your time, I thought it was amusing...

Great read! I agree with you, but how many rounds did the T1000 shoot out of the Beretta 92 without reloading in the initial sequence in the mall hallway? 30+?

Accuracy should be maintained in such films, however many directors, script writers, etc, do not know what's what when it comes to firearms and simply don't realise that some people DO. Or that some people care.
Want another? In the 'Matrix' movie (the first one), in the gunfight scene in the bldg where Morpheus is held, Neo eventually runs firing a pair of machine pistols, the magazines of which indicate they are pistol caliber. Yet, the brass than rains down from him firing these is obviously .223 cal. Like I say, this is not a biggie, but it DOES tend to detract from the realism of the movie, realism the producers/directors obviously went to some lengths to portray.
Sorta like Robert Ludlum having one of his characters (an American tourist in Italy) walk into a gun store in Rome, where he buys and walks out with a .357 (that later fires eight shots without reloading). (This was more than 10 years before IMI developed their .357 autoloader.)

great points all around, except for the 'too much time' flame post by the disgruntled person. But otherwise thanks all for the enjoyable replies.
yes, was that a Beretta police pistol ?? I don't know how many he fired. But that leads me to another blooper. Arnie takes the biker's 'clothes, boots, and motorcycle'. He also takes his autoloading handgun. Now, this is the same handgun, I believe, that Sarah is firing in the car at the T-1000, as Arnie is driving the car backwards out of the parkade. John Connor is in the backseat reloading. They just keep tossing guns back to John to reload, the Winchester lever shotgun, and pistol.
Where did all the pistol and shotgun ammo come from in the back seat ??
That means that Arnie the Terminator, anticipating a shootout of this magnitude, stopped at his local Walmart or Kmart store, and stocked up at a Blue Light Special ammo sale ??

I hate to say this. But I think it is a valid thought? But did it... ever occur to you that if the terminator is suppose to be an exact copy that can't be detected, well, maybe it goes to the bathroom too? But what comes out? Could be fully loaded twelve gauge shotgun shells! Why not I'd like to know? It's suppose to be a machine of the future.
Could this be the missing unlimited supply?
