I'm thinking about purchasing a Remington Model 710 in a 270 cal. Anybody have any comments about this type of gun?

I bought one very slightly used for about $200 (with the scope) a couple of years ago. I was actually shopping for a 700 but couldn't pass up the price.
I think I know why the guy traded it, the first time I took it out to zero it, I could not even get on the paper.
I thought I had a real lemon... a cheap lemon, but one just the same.
I bought a laser boresighter at a gun show and tried again... turns out the scope was feet off the paper and needed serious re-alignment of its mounts.
Once I did that, I shot a group and my Dad was giving me a hard time because only one of the three rounds was on the paper.
I retreived the paper and found that the reason I had one hole was that all three rounds overlapped. Whoa.
This gun has turned out to be a tack driver. I could not be more pleased.
Further thoughts: 1. The gun is ugly
