If that AWB renewal gets to Bush, he'll sign it. Feinstein knows that, as do Schumer and Kennedy. Pro-RKBA people need to be writing, telephoning, faxing, and telegramming their representatives and senators NOW! Not later, when it looks as if the bill 'might' pass either the house or senate.

Yeah, I imagine all the people who own warehouses full of full capacity magazines are trying to help comrade Commissar Feinstein too.

What? You mean there might be a profit motive there, like there was for Ruger when the AWB first passed?

Oh, the humanity!

Cheers, Bama Brian

You guys don't know he will sign it....he said he supported to out pysch the Democrats.

It has to pass the House too remember and it didn't even pass the Senate last time when it was linked with pro-gun stuff even.

David,

it was listed as a political plank in Bush's Y2K presidential candidate website. It was subsequently verified as something he would do by both Ari Fleischer and the new Press Secretary, Scott McClellan. In addition to saying that Bush would sign the AWB if it was presented to him, Fleisher also pointed out that Bush believed in trigger locks being sold with all firearms. Even the NRA knows that Bush will sign the AWB - and that's why they've been hesitant about giving him unconditional support.

I sincerely doubt that presidential candidates - and presidents - say something, or allow it to be repeated by those who report to him that many times, with the intent of later being able to say, 'Ha Ha! I fooled you!' to his political opponents. The Democrats would scream for Bush's head forever after. Bush would almost certainly have to sign it just to shut them up. Remember Bush senior's 'Read my lips. No new taxes!' promise that lost him his second term?

If we stay lucky, the AWB renewal will never get to Bush's desk for signature. But if we get unlucky, we're going to be saddled with it forever because Bush will sign it.

True. Why isn't the NRA going to him and trying to educate him on it? It sounds like he's really ignorant on the issue.
