The organizers of this event have the option to make the rules, and by signing up as a participant (as opposed to an observer watching the parade go by), you agree to abide by the rules in order to participate. They say you cannot have a firearm as a participant and then you have the choice to participate or not participate, but if you are Joe Blow watching the parade, you can go CCW without worry. This is just another example of the anti-gun milleau we are in. They think they are being appropriate (politically correct) by banning guns, even though their doing so will make no real world difference...they 'look caring and progressive', which they must do because the Gay Rights movement is essentially left driven and supported, thus they must follow ALL the left's agendas, including the 'guns are evil' one. Solution: get your people into the management level of the organization running this parade and 'change the rules'. Its unlikely legal for them to keep a confiscated firearm, but you may have to get them in court to get it returned peacably. Who knows what issues would arise should you refuse to surrender a firearm to a parade official should they demand it; no doubt law enforcement would somehow have to intervene.
