If you're going to store the gun or not use it for a while I would coat the chambers and bore with a light wipe of grease. It doesn't migrate like oil. I would clean the lube out of the chambers and bore when ready to shoot it. If you are going to be carrying it daily, like a police officer, I would use one of the synthetic lubes that dries like Essox.
